The Immigrants

1665. An Irish immigrant is forcibly removed from his native land to set sail on a slave ship heading for Barbados. An unlikely bond is established on his journey across the Atlantic where Africa meets Ireland.

1900. Henrietta, a carpenter’s wife in Missouri establishes a special bond with her black house servant as she struggles with the death of her children and a dysfunctional marriage. This story is about individuals bridging the wide abyss of time, space and history, breaking through the thick boundaries of race to find friendship.

We present this play as a work in progress and look forward to its return to Scotland as a fully-worked production.
