Great Expectations
– NTC (Drama)
Great ExpectationsBy Charles Dickens, adapted by Stewart Hoswon
Directed by Gillian Hambleton
Designed by Michelle Huitson
From the same team as NTC’s ‘The Old Curiosity Shop’, ‘Mary Barton’ and ‘Tartuffe’ comes an exciting stage adaptation of one of Dickens’ best loved novels. It’s a mystery story, a love story, with a big but simple theme; that affection, loyalty, love and conscience are more important than the grasping pursuit of wealth and social advancement. Great Expectations contains Dickens’ unique mixture of comic and dramatic characters who do their best the aid and abet (and hinder) the young boy Pip’s quest to better himself and seize hold of his ‘Expectations’. But who is paying for it? And with what kind of coin?
