Iain Thomson (The Singing Shepherd)
and his trio with local band, Emptyhouse
Workshops: 5.30pm – 7pm
Concert: 8 pm
All the way from Mull comes Iain Thomson who really is a shepherd when he's not singing and playing guitar. His trio includes Marc Duff (of Capercaillie fame) on bodhran & whistles and John Somerville, an accomplished accordion player. The evening will include two short sets by Caithness trio Emptyhouse. All-in-all a great line-up of talent.
Iain Thomson's sensitive composition and down to earth approach come from his work as a shepherd on the Isle of Mull. His inspiring songs of the changing face of Argyll move the heart and soul. Marc Duff (bodhran & whistle) spent time at the Guildhall School before co-founding Capercaillie. With his distinctive musical touch he is in great demand both as a session musician and teacher. John Somerville completes the trio with his own unique, energetic style of accordion playing which draws influence from traditional Scottish, Galician and European music. Together, the trio weave music of great beauty, depth and power around Iain's rich, clear voice.
