The Tragical History of Dr. Faustus

“The Tragical History of Dr. Faustus”

Third Party

Third Party brought memorable versions of both Richard III and Hamlet to Lyth with great acclaim. Now it’s another great classic: Christopher Marlowe’s 1604 version of the timeless Faust story. Like all great epics the play is both a rollicking tale and a study of morality and human behavior. Faustus exchanges his soul for the key to supernatural powers but at what cost?

Without stepping aside from Marlowe’s language or plot, this version moves through the full arc of the story which contains some of the most popular dramatic verse ever written accompanied by some splendid comedy and shot through with live music, dance, ventriloquism and even a touch of magic.
